Our story / Union Yoga

A place to begin.
A space to belong.

Yoga, connection and a welcome that meets you where you are.

How Union began

A simple idea.
A meaningful beginning.

Union Yoga grew from founder Rex Dean Villena’s belief that yoga should offer refuge during difficult times. His own experience of practice inspired a studio centered on inclusion, access and trauma-sensitive teaching.

In Pacific Beach, that vision became a place to move, breathe and connect. A neighborhood studio with room for beginners, returning students and people seeking a deeper practice.

Why we’re here

Care is part of the practice.

Room for every body

People arrive with different backgrounds, experiences and needs. A warm welcome is where we begin.

Choice and respect

Clear guidance, options and respect for your boundaries help you find your own way into practice.

Connection and access

Union’s founding vision includes making wellness more accessible to people who have felt underserved.

The people who carry it forward

Built around
real connection.

Our teachers bring distinct voices to a shared space. The community grows through practice, conversation and the everyday act of showing up.

Meet the teachers

Our story is drawn from Union’s public About page. A fuller founding timeline and opening-day story can be added with Rex’s approved details.

See you
at the studio.
